2010/2011 SCHOOL YEAR

PLEASE NOTE CHANGES IN PROTOCOL as of March 2, 2010
The application deadline for enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year is Thursday, March 18, 2010. A supervised, public lottery will be held on March 19th at 4:30 pm to determine placement in classes and rankings on the waiting list. This is a public lottery, and all are welcome to attend, though you do not need to be present to be eligible. Applications are available from our school office and at the link below, and will be accepted from September 8th through the March 18th deadline. Due to an overwhelming amount of applications for the 2010/2011 school year, our scheduled, required Parent Orientation Meetings have been canceled. For the 2010/2011 school year, parents are NOT required to come to an orientation to be eligible in the lottery.  However, if chosen for a position through the lottery, all incoming students will be required to attend a Parent Orientation Meeting on Thursday, April 29th at 5:00pm (or by other arrangement).  First preference is given to siblings of Museum School students, children of Museum School Staff and Board members, and then students within the boundaries of the San Diego Unified School District.

SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTION AND SERVICES

The Museum School operates as a public school of the San Diego Unified School District ("District") for all special education purposes. Accordingly, eligible students enrolled in the charter school shall receive special education services in accordance with their individualized education programs ("IEP") and in the same manner as any other student enrolled in the District. The District as the local education agency ("LEA") for special education purposes offers a full continuum of special education instruction and related services to ensure that all students receive a free appropriate public education.
Not every service on the continuum of options is offered at the Museum School. Accordingly, a Museum School student requiring special education services may receive such services by the District at another site of the District or as otherwise arranged by the District in accordance with that students IEP and District and special education local plan area ("SELPA") policy. Special education placements and related services available on site at the Museum School may include general education inclusion, a resource specialist program, speech and language therapy, and other designated instructional services. Other special education placements and services are available off-site in other public schools within San Diego Unified School District.
